The following Missions/Functions have been assigned to Civil Defence Department by the Government of the Punjab.
- Impart basic Civil Defence, First Aid and Fire Preventing Training to general public
- Administration workers of Industrial/Commercial concerns, employees Government and Semi-Government Departments, Universities, Schools and Colleges located within jurisdiction.Specify and enforce Fire Protection and Civil Defence measures in Industrial/Commercial concerns and for other premises as considered essential under special powers Rules 1952 Rule,09 & 18 (43/a, 26- 44, PPC 285/286)
- Enroll and train volunteers for Civil Defence services i.e. Warden, Fire, Rescue, Terrorism's First Aid. Plan and coordinate Civil Defence Schemes in classified towns of the Province/concerned district
- Liaison with the Armed Forces for Fortress and Air Defence on matters relating to Civil Defence
- To provide assistance, render advice and impart training in Bomb Reconnaissance and Bomb Disposal services i.e. defusing and clearance procedures etc
- To help Civil/local Administration in peace and war emergencies mainly through the voluntary Wardens Services and its Razakars, Technical staff of this office
- Render First Aid and evacuate casualties during emergencies
- To plan to reduce/minimize the ratio of incidents caused by fire, flood, buildings collapse, terrorisms activities, bomb blasts etc
- To coordinate with the Local Administration, Army during flood emergency
- To hold mock exercises throughout District Rahimyarkhan of all organization to control over as possible at terrorisms activities, fire fighting drills, demonstration, on large and small scales for awareness/procedure to handle man made/naturally calamities/incidents etc
