Introduction & Function Of Department

Social Security

jaSocial Security was extended to the labour of Rahim Yar Khan District in 1971 and initially applied to major establishments like Textile Mills and Sugar Mills only. It was later extended to small units such as Cotton Ginning Factories, Oil Mills, Ice Factories, Hotels and Workshops. The employer paid 7% of the wages to the social Security Department and in return workers and their families provided medical care and benefits such as sickness benefit at the rate of 75% of the wages for 121 days in case of common ailments and full pay for 181 days in case of T.B and cancer, besides injury benefits and disablement gratuity. This scheme covers 85 establishments in Rahim Yar Khan District and runs 4 Dispensaries for the workers with strength of 7 qualified doctors along with Para-medical staff. In addition to these, arrangements for admission in D.H.Q Hospital Rahim Yar Khan and an air-conditioned hospital namely Khawaja Fareed Social Security Hospital Multan are also assured by the department.

Social Welfare & Bait-ul-Maal Department District Rahim Yar Khan was established in the year 1961-62. Assistant Director, Social Welfare was appointed to supervise all the field offices in 1977. Thereafter; due to promulgation of Devolution Plan in 2001; post was re-designated as District Officer, Social Welfare & Bait-ul-Maal. In 2017 the post once again re-designated as Deputy Director Social Welfare &Bait-ul-Maal Rahim Yar Khan.

  • Socio-Economic Development of the people particularly for women
  • Training and rehabilitation of the destitute under privileged handicapped of social evils
  • Providing relief and rescue services during calamities and national emergency
  • Coordinate with the all line departments/ district administration
  • Organize campaigns and programmes against social evils through N.G.Os
  • Organize relief work through NGOs/ Philanthropists
  • Registration authority with delegated powers

Bait-Ul-Maal

Pakistan Bait-ul-Maal is an autonomous body working under the umbrella of Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety Division. Head Office is situated in Islamabad which is controlling all provincial, regional and District Offices all over the country. Managing Director is Controlling Authority and a Board of Directors has all powers.

Function Of The District Office

District Office is recommending authority for financial support to needy and poor persons. After receiving the application through beneficiaries District office verify the status of applicant that the person is deserving or non- deserving. The comprehensive reports submit to Regional Office for further process. The Regional and Head Office approve the funds and issued the cross cheque.  The detail of financial Support is as under.

Individual Financial Assistance-General (IFA-G)

  • Financial support to senior citizen and widows through cross cheque.

Individual Financial Assistance-Special Friends (IFA-SF)

  • Financial support to disable through cross cheque. In case of three or more than three persons of similar family the limit of amount increased. The under mentioned items are provides to deserving persons on the need

School For Rehabilitation Of Child Labour (SRCL)

A Primary school SRCL is working in Rahim Yar Khan they provide these facilities to the laborer Childs:

  • All the Material, Uniform, Books are provided by the institute
  • Pocket money for each student paid Rs.30/= per attendance
  • Parents are paid Rs.300/=per month as an assistance
  • 120 students are learning in the school
  • Relief and rehabilitation of the poor and the needy particularly poor widows and orphans
  • Educational Assistance to the poor and deserving students
  • Medical Assistance to the poor
  • Assistance to the registered NGOs including those registered under the voluntary social welfare agencies (R&C) Ordinance 1961
  • Activities relating to charitable purpose
  • Compilation and collection data regarding number of beneficiaries and the amount utilized
  • Sports and culture
